RACE CAREER

One of the first offspring of the legendary Wetmead Hawk, Diver was a pup right out of the top drawer. Early wins at Walthamstow in 28.53, Wimbledon 27.66 and Henlow 27.62 augured well for his future status as top pup in the country.
The main target was the prestigous Gymcrack competition at Hall Green. Starting as 4/9 favourite against the like of Boherna Best, Diver was flying to the 3rd bend, 5 lengths up from the toiling Boherna Best, disaster struck! Diver smashed a hock and his track career was instantly over.
A lot of good judges believed that he would have smashed the track record that night, the eventual winner clocked 28.40 and Diver (a very strong running dog) was a long way in front before the sad end came.

DROOPYS DIVER (1-1F), easily producing the best performance of his career to date, steamrollered the opposition in the final of the £1,500 Coral Sussex Puppy Trophy (515 metres) at Hove on Sunday.
The contest was reduced to five runners in the absence of Farleyhillian (off-colour) and, taking up a more prominent position than is usually the case, Seamus Cahill's youngster showed good middle pace to forge ahead at halfway.       Droopys Diver quickly stretched the opposition and he pulled right away to win impressively by eight-and-a-half lengths from Young Tokyo (7-2) in 30.45sec. (-60).   Cahill, who landed the corresponding event two years ago with Raving Black, said: "He's a very nice dog in the making and we'll be campaigning him over six bends next season. He badly needs the rails and, with a vacant trap inside him, the make-up of the race was ideal. We're delighted with his performance, and he's one to look to forward to in 2011."
