RACE CAREER
Killahan Phanter raced with the best and invariably beat the best. A combination of stunning early pace together with a fierce will to win meant Phanter was destined for the very top. Winning 16 of his 21 races, he clocked the following times:
29.75 Shelbourne 503m
28.47 Shelbourne 480m
28.39 Tralee 480m
29.47 Dundlak 503m
28.54 Clonmel 480m
Tragically Phanter's career was cut short by an horrendous injury. Starting odds on and Ante post favourite in the quarter final of the 2008 Irish Derby, he fractured a hock and broke a foreleg when falling at the first bend.
Fortunately his life was saved and after great veterinary care and a lot of nursing Phanter has taken his rightful place in the stud ranks alongside other great champions.
