Blackstone Gene was an incredibly fast racer, he won the first 3 rounds of the €25000 IGB Unraced stake at Clonmel clocking 28.83, 28.64 and an unbelievable 28.46 which ensured he started odds on for the final. Despite finishing 10 lengths clear of the third dog, Gene had to settle for second behind Killough Tale.
Gene clocked 28.25 at Limerick, 28.53 at Shelbourne and proved his strength at the end of races by clocking 32.59 over the tough 600yd trip.
Blackstone Gene ran in the €60,000 Ladbrokes final at Shelbourne where finished a gallant second to Accordello and College Causeway.
